Our Curriculum

Morningside Press applies instructional design principles to design two types of reading, writing, and mathematics curriculum: 

  1. New Instruction - programs that use explicit instruction to teach new skills and concepts.

  2. Fluency Building - programs that are to be used as a fluency building supplement to commercially available programs or stand alone programs that may accompany a variety of core programs.

Titles in the Instructional Design provides educators with the philosophy and procedures that underlie the methodology.

Morningside’s reading programs are designed to build fluency of sounds, word parts, words, and more. Morningside Press has developed two types of Fluency Building programs in reading:

  1. Stand Alone Programs may accompany a variety of core programs or that can be taught on their own.

Morningside’s writing programs are designed to teach and build fluency of skills such as sentence writing, sentence combining, and composition writing. has developed two types of Fluency Building programs in writing:

Morningside Mathematics Foundations Fluency features both New Instruction and Fluency Building programs. Our math curricula are organized into three areas: 

  1. Basic Number Skills: Fluency Building programs for reading and writing whole numbers, addition and subtraction math facts, and multiplication and division math facts. 

  2. Computation: Fluency Building programs for  computation of whole numbers and fractions.

    • For students learning about computation for the first time, use the Computation Fluency series.

    • For students with splinter skills, use the Diagnostic & Prescriptive series.
