Algebra for Beginners: Solving Word Problems with Addition & Subtraction Fluency Practice Book

This program could be subtitled Algebra for Elementary School Learners. It includes both scripted instruction and fluency practice sheets for teaching learners how to (a) read addition and subtraction word problems with irrelevant sentences and numbers, (b) identify the relevant information needed to answer the problem question, (c) write a basic algebraic equation with one unknown variable representing the problem, and (d) solve the equation. 5 types of addition and subtraction word problems are taught to mastery and fluency. Students also learn the complementary nature of the concepts of addition and subtraction.

The program also includes cumulative fluency practice for each type of problem, mixed in with problems from previously taught types.
